And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. DYLAN THOMAS Share this:TweetEmailPrintMoreRedditShare on TumblrLike this:Like Loading... Related Port218
Wonderfully scenic photo, Dev. Reminds me of some places Cheri and I saw during our Peace Corps stint in the Caribbean. What’s below the picture? A river? Lake? Or something else?
And the Dylan Thomas poem is one of my favorites, especially the last two quoted lines. May they inspire us all to grow old disgracefully! ≧◔◡◔≦
Thank you for the wonderful comment, Gary.
It’s from a town called Jerome here in AZ. It’s a very small town up in the hills, mostly full of art galleries and hotels and B&B type places. Some say some of the hotels are haunted… anyway, so there is no water body nearby. It’s a bit green up at that altitude, as you can see but coming down it’s just rocks and barren landscape. I was standing on a lower level street looking up. I’ll post more photos of the place in coming days and you’ll get a better idea.
I didn’t know about that poem until recently. I didn’t even know about Dylan Thomas. But I saw a video of Bernie Sanders reciting the poem (back in 1985) and it is fantastically inspiring. That made me look up the poem. While doing so I learned that Bob Dylan changed his name to that in honor of Dylan Thomas. Before that he was Robert Zimmerman.
Okay, I didn’t know that about Bob Dylan. Neat factoid!
About growing old: Arnold Schwarzeneggar, Sylvester Stallone, and Dolph Lundgren recently got together for some sort of party or powwow. Arnie later posted that the three of them were having fun “growing old UNgracefully”. right attitude, but I like my “disgracefully” better!
