I saw the sun go down last evening.
The sky turned from blue
To red
To dark.
The world became smaller and smaller
Till there was only you.
And your smile
And your spark.
From that spark was a fire
The fire gave warmth all night.
Its flames rose higher and higher,
Bright
Its blaze in your eye.
Your eyes twinkled like stars,
And I, quietly star-gazing,
Didn’t count all the hours go by.
The flame burned and burned.
Until the morning mist and rain
Came
And quenched it.
The dark sky once again
Turned
From dark to red to light.
